gorta and TOTEM teamed up to provide critical relief in drought-stricken Kenya

Gorta – the Freedom from Hunger Council of Ireland - has been shortlisted for the first time for the Chartered Accountants Ireland’s annual Published Accounts Awards (PPA).

gorta CEO, Brian Hanratty said, "We are delighted to have been shortlisted for the Public Accounts Award. Our annual report is our flagship governance document, communicating the work we do as an NGO and we value this professional endorsement. Our reputation is important to us and it is critical that we produce documents that protect that. We are especially pleased that this also recognises the work of TOTEM Visual Communications who kindly sponsored the production of the report”.

Commenting on the project, TOTEM’s Creative Director, Colin Byrne, said “The idea of the sponsorship was to give something tangible to an Irish charity in these difficult economic times.  It was fantastic to work with a small and energetic team in gorta. The charity work they carry out in Africa is inspirational, and critical to the wellbeing of some of the world’s poorest people.

The team here at TOTEM were delighted when gorta decided to commit the savings generated by our sponsorship towards a food security project. It fantastic to know that our sponsorship is making a substantial difference to women and children who have become malnourished as a result of the famine in the Horn of Africa and we look forward to hearing of its progress.”

The winners of the Chartered Accountants Ireland’s Published Accounts Awards will be announced at a ceremony in The Shelbourne Hotel, Dublin on the 24th November.
